Who is Sven-Erik Pihl?

I am a competitive intelligence professional, with experience in competitor and customer intelligence, as well as government competitive intelligence. Among other roles I am an experienced marketing coordinator, CRM (customer relations management) key account administrator, and sales representative within the Nordic countries.
It has often been amusing to learn how a man with the name Sven-Erik comes from the USA and not Sweden originally. I grew up as a Swedish and American citizen in the United States, the son of Swedish and Norwegian parents. Today I live in Skåne, Sweden after having studied marketing at the School of Economics & Management at Lund University, Sweden. My diverse international background has brought me to Sweden from the US cities of Minneapolis, St. Louis, and Boston. I also have work, research and educational experience from Norway, Russia, Japan, France, and Canada. A common thread in my experience has been the desire to devote myself to working on internationally focused projects and organizations striving to achieve excellence in their field. Competitive intelligence has been a cornerstone of my professional career.
From 2001 to 2003 I have developed and coordinated an independent Government Competitive Intelligence project. This has been a joint project with Region Skåne and Technology Transfer Foundation (Teknikbrostiftelsen) in Lund. Among the issues explored were best practices in other regions in the world supporting joint government, university and business sectors partnership to support industry sector innovation and knowledge-based economic development. It was initiated after seeing the need and use of competitive intelligence in the Canadian government offered to help industry sectors be more innovative.
I previously served as Marketing Coordinator at Planit Media (www.planitmedia.com), an internet-based international media information source used by media houses, advertising and PR agencies. My responsibilities included coordinating the international advertising campaign with partners in London, international PR communications and special events promotions. Central duties also addressed developing a CRM for global accounts, and market competitive intelligence for the sales team and managing director. Competitive intelligence was vital both tactically in sales and strategically for product and company development.
